I'm a big fan of all the Garphill games. They do really well with their solo modes (for their non solo-only games). My favorite is Raiders of Scythia, but I've heard that the solo mode for Viscounts of the West Kingdom is quite good. I've not played the South Tigris game(s), but those also look quite good!

Viscounts solo is good! It's different but just as engaging as Paladins I think. I've heard less so of Architects, but I'm excited to get that soon. I really want to play Legacy of Yu. It looks fun. But hard to justify multiplayer game prices for a solo-only for me at the moment.

Yeah, Architects is one of their first with a solo mode, so it isn't quite as good as the later games. It looks like they released a new solo deck for the game in the Works of Wonder expansion though. Architects is a fun play though, and has some neat mechanics, like sending opponent meeples to jail and extra resources based on how many you have on a spot. Really fun.

Edited to add: Legacy of Yu does look neat, but I agree on the big price for a solo-only game. I still want to pick up Hadrian's Wall. It's multiplayer, but works really well as solo-only.

Great post! I've really enjoyed the West Kingdom and North Sea series from Shem. Each one has an interesting take on worker placement, and Paladins is no exception.

I'd need some additional plays, but Paladins might be my favorite vs. Architects and Viscounts. (They are all good though!!)
